WOOLLEN MANUFACTURES.
SKILLED hands scarce.
With skilled hands difficult to procure in New Zealand, the rush of orders which may result from the restriction of imports will be difficult to meet, according to a large manufacturer of woollen .roods in Auckland. Restrictions on hours and conditions of work add to the difficulty of expanding production at a time when orders were fairly heavy even before the import regulations were introduced.. Local mills report that they are takin" 011 a few hands in departments most "likely to benefit from the scheme. It is not anticipated that there will be any shortage of the few imported Jines and machinery ueed in woollen manufacture.
