INDUSTRY EXPANDS.
GCODS MADE FROM RUBBER. FACTORY IX AUCKLAXD. "We confidently hope that the new import regulations will help to increase sales and production, which in turn will result in an increase in tlie number of hands employed in our factory, said Mr. G. C. W. Reid, managing director of Reid Xew Zealand Rubber Mills, Limited, in an interview this morning.
The company, said Air. Reid, had proved, prior to the introduction of the import restrictions, its ability to pioduce rubber goods economically in New Zealand. Recently new ground had been broken with the manufacture of cycle tvres, tennis balls aiul many other new lines. Additional plant had recently been installed and further machinery was on order in pursuance of the company's policy of expansion. In the manufacture of rubber goods, continued Mr. Keid, there was a wide lieUl for expansion. He felt that the company s success in the past and also the laigc requirements for rubber products of the public and of modern industry warranted the programme of expansion contemplated. t Die time was too early, he said, to comment on the raw material position, but he was confident that the industry would receive reasonable treatment from the Government.
