ALLEGED I.R.A. CONSPIRACY
Cripple Armament SCHEME TO EXTEND ALL OVER BRITAIN (United Press Association. Copyright. Rec. 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, February 6. Plan, covering a wide field of activity, allegedly found in possession of Michael O'Shea, a labourer, which the prosecution asserted was a production of the 1.R.A., and in conjunction with other documents showed the I.R.A. to be active in England, was mentioned when 1 2 accused charged with conspiracy appeared at Bow Street Court. Other accused, in addition to O Shea, are: Peter Stuart (signwriter), Michael Preston (no occupation), John Mitchell (garage attendant), Harold Sutton, Charles James Casey, George Brandon Kane, Daniel Fitzpatrick, Jack Logue, Francis James Burns, John Francis Wharton and John Healy. The men were charged with conspiring with others in Manchester, Liverpool, Cardiff and elsewhere in the United Kingdom to cause explosions. On January I 8 Casey and Kane were charged with possessing ammunition and arms with intent to endanger life, and Fitzpatrick, Logue, Burns, Wharton and Healy with possessing explosives for an unlawful purpose.
