GALLANT RESCUE.
• ! GIRL PLUNGES INTO RIVER. ! I ; (From Our Correspondent.) ' WELLINGTON, Monday. A small boy, George Martin, aged nine, 56, Rand wick Crescent, Moera, had a narrow escape from drowning in the Hutt River just south of the railway bridge.
The boy rowed a small tin boat out' into the water about 12ft deep when it' suddenly capsized. Martin, who could not swim, was thrown into the water. Children on the bank called for help and Miss Grace Sukroo. 27. Rand wick Crescent, who was passing, plunged into the river fully clad and brought the boy ashore. ! Had it not been for the prompt action of Miss Sukroo the boy would, undoubtedly have loet his life. '
