OUTSTANDING CHURCHMAN
DR. GILLIE AT ST. DAVID'S.
Large and attentive congregations greeted the Rev. Dr. R. C. Gillie, outstanding Free Church leader, of England, and a former Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of England, who opened hi* ministry at St. David's Presbyterian Church, Khyber Pass, yesterday morning and evening. Dr. Gillie is supplying the pulpit of St. David's during the absence abroad of the Rev. Bower Black.
The interim moderator, the Very Rev. G. Budd, opened the service, and formally welcomed Dr. and Mrs. Gillie on behalf of the Presbytery and the congregation. The elders of the congregation met Dr. Gillie prior to the opening of the morning service. Dr. Gillie said that the welcome given him and Mrs. Gillie by Mr. Budd and the office bearers and ladies of the congregation had made them begin to feel at home much more quickly than they had anticipated. "I come to you in the common faith of the Gospel of Jesus Christ., and with loyal adherence to the Presbyterian svstem with its important contributions to the Catholic Church as a whole," he said.
