FLOATING DINGHY.
FOUND OFF PALM BEACH. WAIHEKE ISLAND MYSTERY. Mystery surrounding the finding of an Bft dinghy drifting off Palm Beach, Waiheke Island, on Friday. The dinghy, without oars and with a broken painter, was seen lloating past Bird Island, about a mile from PaJm Beach, by Mr. A. Young, who is spending a holiday at Waiheke.
Running over a mile along the shore. Mr. Young secured the dingby .before it was carried on to the rocks. The dinghy, painted white, with a grey bottom, had one rowlock. A fishing line, with hooks baited, was in the boat, which was taken to Palm Beach and inspected by the police. Owing to a defect in the telephone line, communication could not be established with Constable MacKenzie, of Oneroa, to-day, but it is understood that no resident of Waiheke has been reported missing.
