PERSONAL.

Mr. oames A. linen, of Pennsylvania, is visiting Auckland. Mr. H. S. Eaetgate "was a passenger for Wellington by the early express this afternoon. Mr. Ronald Miiston returned from a visit to Wellington by -the Limited express this morning. Captain R. C. Hammond returned to Auckland by train yesterday after a visit to Wellington. The Hon. E. Dye, M.L.C., is expected to leave for Wellington -by the Limited .express this evening. Mr. William. Fletcher, who has' been on a visit to Wellington, returned by the Limited express this morning. Mr. F. Scott Miller arrived from the south by air yesterday and will leave again for Wellington by the Limited express this evening. Mx*. R. C. Dormer left for-Wellington by the Limited express last evening. He is to join the Awatea for a brief business trip to Australia. Sir Duncan MacKenzie, resident at the Court of the Nizam of Hyderabad, who has been visiting the Dominion, will sail in the Mariposa to-niglit on his way to Honolulu.

Mr. C. J. J. T. Barton, Colonial Secretary in the Western Pacific Administration, arrived from Suva in the Aorangi to confer with the New Zealand Government.

The Rev. W. C. Wood, vice-president of the Hospitals' Association, has left for New Plymouth' to attend the biennial conference of the association. Mr. W. Iv. Howitt and Mr. E. If. Potter will also attend the conference, which opens to-morrow.

Mr. R. A. Laidlaw, accompanied "by Mrs. Laidlaw and meniliers' of their family, will leave for San Francisco in Hie Mariposa to-niglit, on the first stage of a round-the-world tour.

Di-.-W. X. Kergin, of Prince Rupert. British Columbia, who reached Auckland in the Aorangi yesterday, left to-day for Rotorua. He intends to spend a short holiday in the Dominion and will later visit Australia. • .

Sir Theophilus Metcalfe, of Winkivorthj Surrey, accompanied bv Ladv Metcalfe, who has been in Xew" Zealand since June, has arrived in Auckland from Rotorua. He will be in Auckland for a few days before going to the South Island.

Mr. W. E. Sill, secretary of the Auckland Abattoir Assistants and Freezing Works Emploj'ees' Union, who appeared as advocate at the Conciliation Council meeting in the Dominion freezing works dispute, returned from Wellington by the Limited express this morning.
