ONE-ARMED MOTORIST.
COURT IMPOSES FINE. When a Maori, Dick Clarke, appeared before Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M., in the Onehunga Police Court this morning, charged with failing to keep his motor car to the left of the roadway on December 24 last, he admitted that his right arm had been amputated. It also transpired in the course of examination by Sergeant S. A. Brown that defendant was so short-sighted that he could not see in the witness box to read ordinary writing. He did not wear spectacles, and had not had any schooling. He admitted that he had been refused a driver's license at Onehunga. : He obtained one afterwards, however, at Otahuhu. He waa in receipt of an i invalidity pension. j Mr. a mentality such as the defendant's could not cope with the traffic problem. He asked Sergeant Brown to investigate fully . the circumstances under which defendant I was granted a license at Otahuhu. Clarke was convicted on the charge j aad fined 40/. 1
