DECISION or SENATE. (By Telegraph.—nress Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, thi* day. The Senate of the University of New Zealand decided to-day to approach the Minister of Education, the Hon. P. Fraser, for the power to confer degrees in theology. The suggestion that the churches organise a board of studies, and secure a Parliamentary charter enabling the board to confer degrees, was not acceptable to any of the churches concerned, stated a memorandum submitted by Christchurcli representatives.
The memorandum proposed that degress should be available only to thoße who wore already graduates of the University of New Zealand or some other approved university.
