EXTENSIVELY DAMAGED.
MISHAP ON BRIDGE. (From Our Correspondent.) GISBORNE, Friday. Stout timbers in the side railing of the Okitu Bridge, Wainui—Beach, prevented a lorry from taking a 50ft drop in the creek below, when the vehicle crashed into the side of the bridge. The mishap was caused by the breakin"" of a spring as ' the lorry was approaching the bridge. A large section of the railing was torn out before the lorry came to rest extensively damaged and in a precarious position.
