BUSES' BIG - MILEAGE.
OTOEOHANGA HIGH SCHOOI,. (From Our Correspondent.) OTOROHAXGA, Friday. , Eight large motor-buses are used to take, children to and from the Otorohanga District High School, which now has 700 pupils on the roll. • The buse3 cover a distance of. 2SO miles a 4 day, being driven by members of the teaching staff. Children are brought to the school from as far as 23 miles'" away.
In the two and a-half years for wliicli the service has been operated, none of the pupils have been injured, in spite of the tortuous nature of the roads in the outlying districts, and the fact that the buses maintain an-average speed of about 35 miles an hour. A mechanic is permanently employed keeping the vehicle s. in good mechanical condition.
