A SUICIDE'S DIARY.
LEFT MESSAGE FOR WIFE. . SYDNEY, January 27. A diary produced at Campsie Cor-r oner's Court revealed that a. man who committed suicide loved his wife, but "wanted her to many another man. Mention .was also made of three previous attempts"'to take his life. Edwin Ilsley, 32. boilermaker, of Tom TJiumb Lagoon, Port Kembla, committed .suicide at his. father's home in Clissold Parade, Campsie, on Christmas Day. A' diary found in his pocket read:— "I will write a lot to-day, as it is my last day on earth. When you stand over mv body I want you to realise that I still want you. Don't matter where I go. "If you decide not to come with me, every night when you close your eyes to sleep I:want you to-think of me and to know I :love .you.' « : "I am at ; Parramatta waitings for a train to take m'e to- Echo Point, and strangely I'm not afraid, so far l . "Listen, Grace, why don't you and Harold come together? I love him and I love you, and I think you would get; on. well together. | •"I have been a black slieep, but deep ddwn I have a spark of good, and it was coming out when* we parted. Meeting With Girl. "If you love me as you say you do, \ :you will join me in the next world soon. •I will be waiting for you, love. "I am meeting a girl to try and find consolation, but that is impossible. I wish I could get it over and done with, but the spark of recklessness remains. "I am going to see her now. She is 24, medium build, slim, and a bit inclined to tak<? me' as a. prospective admirer. Wait-and see what happens. "Homes Club, Holmesdale . . Told girl friend off. Having tea at Aroney's Cafe. Going to Holmesdale after tea. "I am no\v at Katoomba, but have sobered, and don't feel like going over Echo Point. "In Sydney after all . . . Still drunk. . . .1 am trying to judge the girls, who visit the wine-bars. ... I am oh the train going to Lithgow. "I tried to die to-day, but someone took my gun away. They have all gone out. and my glass is close. 20th nt Clyde. At the home, of -my brother-in-law I tried to cut;my throat, but they took the razor awav. . .. ."
The diary, endedGrace: Usiev said she left her husband on November 29, 1933,. because lie was drinking heavily, and had several times assaulted her. .
The coroner, MK'G. R. .Williams, found that Ilslcy died "from poison wilfully self-adniihistcred. -"» . .
