Compare Sydney and' Auckland yachting. In Sydney the Yachting League pays every boat competing in a race £1 if she starts. In Auckland each boat owner lias to pay up half a crown or more each race. In Sydney owners who lose or damage their sails when racing are reimbursed 75 per. • cent, of the damage by the League, in Auckland tile owner' has to pay it all himself. ; In Sydney,, thousands of people crowd on ferries to-follow important races.
