GIRLS' BRIGADE.
ANNUAL CONFERENCE HELD OFFICERS ELECTED FOR YEAR. An increase of 19 companies, GO ofilters, 222 juniors and 204 seniors as compared with tho previous year, was revealed in tho annual report submitted at the annual conference of the Girls* Life -Brigade hckl in Wellington from January 28 to 31 and attended 'by delegates from all parts of' the Dominion. Cadet sections, it wits, reported also, had increased by '12. Twenty-two cadet leaders 'looked after 347 cadets —100 per cent increase over last year's figures, and N.CJ.O.'s numbered 47 as against 27, and warrant ofllcore six as against three, The total membership throughout the Dominion was 1705j and it was expected that the 2000 mark would be reached before 1040. Reference Was made also to the, success of tho movement's bulletin, which had a circulation of moi'o tltiiii 300;'
Reports- were given by delegates .in connection with camps held during tlla past year. Miss Jt.!; Burton, adjutant of the Auckland Battalion, reported on the Beach Haven 'fcaiflp, and Miss j. Thomas, ■' coinmandfint of . tlfe Welling' ton Battalion, dealt with ..tlie Wainui-o* liiata camp. . . '
The conference was opened by tho president; Mrs. J. Gilmiili Dtinn, of Ditli' ediri, and the annual report was read by tile secretary, Miss L. Busfield. . A healthy lihancial position was revealed in the balance-sheet submitted by the Dominion treasurer, Miss M. Findlayi ' Officers Elected. An interesting address on tho problem Of the individual girl was given by Maj'or D.. Eai'lc. There was considerable discussion on the question. of the form of a proposed. new. liat for officers and a new uniform.: for girls, and it was finally decided that tlie matter should be the subject of a. postal vote among officers. Tlie election .of officers for the' fortitcoming year resulted as follows:—Pre-" sident, Miss D. Earle, commandant' of the Auckland Battalion in succession to Mrs. J. Oilman Dunn's- vice-presidents, Mrs. J. Giiihail Dunn, lh\s. McKay, MI'S. ■Ellen ' Robertson; Miss. R. Elliffe; Dominion secretary, Miss L. Biisficld; Dominion treasurer, Miss M. Fiiullay; co-opted members of council, Sister M. Gardiner, Miss Duffy, Mrs. Virtue, Mrs. A. Grocott; Dominion executive, Misses M. Shaw, J. Thomas, M. Adams, D. Moss and P. Jansen.
