AUSTRALIAN BUSHMEN.
I read with surprise the offer hy the secretary of the Timber Workers' Union to place 200 or 300 Australians who have lost employment through bush fires in that country in mill and bush work here. My husband; who is recognised as a first-class henchman and all-round mill- hand, has been unable to obtain employment at his trade ever since the depression eight years ago, and he has had to be content with sustenance and relief work during that time, which is very disheartening when a man has a wife and three children to try and bring up as they should be brought up. What is the Labour Government doing to allow such a state of affairs when there are plenty of skilled workers here who are unable to get work at their trade t My husband got in touch at one time with, the union secretary, but all to no avail. FED UP.
