KAITIEKE COUNTY COUNCIL
(From Our Own Correspondent.) TAUMARUNUI, Tuesday. The monthly meeting of the Kaitieke County Council -was held at Raurinru, the chairman, Mr. T. H. Crocker, presiding. Timber Carting.—The Main Trunk Timber Company applied for permission to exceed the road classification on the Erua road in inspect to timber carting. It was decided to allow the company to cart loads up to five tons, provided it paid a royalty and maintained the road. Xoxiouw Weeds.—The inspector of noxious weeds reported that he bad sent out 16.5 notices to property owners, -who were making good progress with the clearing of weeds. Deteriorated Lands.—The Waitotaira County Council wrote stating that a conference .had been arranged to discuss the problem of deteriorated lands at Wanganui on February 5, w'hen a report for ■presentation to the Government -would be presented. It was decided that the dhadrman attend tihe conference. Roads. —It was reported that a contract for improving the lands on the Kaitieke Hill had been let to A. W. Thompson, and' that after certain clearing had -been done the cutting off of corners would be commenced. The formation of 24 chains of the Upper Retaruki Koad. it was stated, was nearing compL'. !o:i. and the meta'Wing of the pumice .-Guidons of Oio No. 2 road had been carried out. A tender for the formation of 73 chains of the : Upper Retaruki Road had been let and the contractor had made a start with the work.
