POWERFUL DRAMA.
"SUEZ" FOR CIVIC. Out of the choking sand of the desert, and from the clutch of the marauding Bedouin, was wrung the Suez Canal, pithily described as "the jugular vein of the world." Few stories so lend themselves for mighty and spectacular screen adap|jon as the saga of the construction of the great canal, and 20th Century Fox have captured nearly all the known elements of entertainment in their epic production, "Suez." which enters its local season on Friday at the Civic Theatre. Tyrone Power, who has played in an unusual number of really "big" roles in the past year or two, has the main part, and gives a stirring portrayal of the great French engineer, Ferdinand de Lesseps. Annabella and Loretta Young are equally outstanding as the two women whose love spurred him on to overcome all the tremendous difficulties with which he was faced, while others who are as good, in less important roles are Josenh Schildkraut, J. Edward Bromberg, Henry ■ Stephenson and Sidney Blackmer. I
