COULD NOT EAT.
WIDOWS SUICIDE.
ELECTION RESULT WORRY. A verdict of suicide by gas poisoning was returned by the city coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, to-day at an inquest into the death of Eftie Luke, aged 60, a widow, who was found dead at 33, Kensington Avenue, Mount Eden, on November 30.
Evidence was given by the woman with whom the deceased lived that for some time the deceased had been in bad health and could not eat. She had also been worried at the result of the general election and feared that her income would be reduced. On November 30, when witness returned from work at 0.20 p.m., she found the kitchen door shut and, on entering, saw deceased sitting on the iloor by the gas stove. The room was full of gas and deceased had been dead some hours.
