MEETING OF COMMITTEE.

GOOD START FOR 1939

RACING OFFICIALS ELECTED

The first meeting of the committee elected to carry out the Auckland Anniyereary Kegatta on January 30. 1939, was held last evening at the .Missions to Seamen Hall. Sturdee Street. Mr. Geo M Demies presiding over an attendance of 62 members. Many matters for the good of the regatta were discussed and the various eub-coramitteee elected, also rac-in 3 officials and other ofhYers of the day. rrom the enthusiasm displayed by all present and their readiness to work on anv committee for which their special knowledge would prove useful, the succetw of the eighty-ninth annual regatta seems already assured.

Owing to the continued increase of competitions, both in the hijr keelers and more especially in the classes 18ft and under it n-a« decided to adopt a recommendation trom last year's officers of the day that two judges, timekeepers and lonordere be appointed to look after the fiujuhin* times of the larjre and snail classes. Tt was also decided that the Taknpuna Club be requested fo appoint two official,.- to assist with the A class, of wlik-h 40 boats are expected to compete this season.
