SOCIAL AFTERNOON.
AVONDALE WOMEN'S CLUB
The Avondale Women's Club held it* breakingup social ■ •ternooii recently. The president, Mrs. Thorn, provided over a large attendance. The national council report was read by Mrs. Rigden. A beautiful shoulder spray was presented to Mrs. Oxenham, the club's oldest member. The following were also recipients of shoulder sprays, the president, Mrs. Thorn, the secretary, Mrs. Hedges, and Mesdanies Harlaml. Uftindell and Skelton. In recognition of services rendered during the year bouquet* were presented to Mesdames Bollard, Tate, Simpson and Abercrombie.
Two playettes were given by members of the club—"Betty Intervenes," with Mesdames Howio, Braithwaitc, Lupton and Hedges taking part, and "Such i* Fame," with Mesdames Whale, Davey. Browne and Whyle. Kach member taking part was presented with a shoulder spray. Song* were delightfully rendered by Mrs. F. C. Burt. accompanied by Mrs. Bollar. Mrs. Burt was presented with a bouquet.
