COUNSEL'S PLEA TO COURT. INTOXICATED DUXKDIN DRIVER. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Monday. "For <I<>iii.Lr a favour to a friend this man will the position lie has held with the City Corporation for 20 yeare" stated counsel when Reginald Hector Gillan pleaded guilty in the Police Court to a charge of being intoxicated while in charge of a car. It was stated that the friend, who owned an old model car but could not drive it. asked Gillan to drive him to I his l.iich. The ear stalled, and when (iillan was cranking it an inspector came lon the scene. (>ili:iu, a motor driver l>y occupation, was sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment, j hi? license being cancelled for 12 months.
