AWARD PROVISIONS.
OVER-RIDE GENERAL ORDER. A Rls IT RA T ION" .1 L'DGM EXT. The direction that the provisions of a particular award over-rode a general order was contained in a memorandum issued from the Arbitration Court to-day by Mr. Justice O'Regan. The application of two firms for an extension of hours over 40 a week was at issue. The judgment stated that by a general order dated August 31. 1037. an extension of hour* was allowed in the case of certain factory occupiers who had made application, {lending the hearing of their case. "The Court considers it desirable to point out," the memorandum stated," that in any case where since the date of the general order referred to, a new award has been made covering any employer bound by the order, the provisions of the award supersede the order. In such cases the hours of work ordained by the award must be followed unless exemption is granted in any particular case or cases in the award itself.
