ON STRIKE?
PAKOTAI SCHOOL. CHILDREN ABSENT TO-DAY. RESULT or PARENTS' MEETING ( Ity Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHAXGAREI, this day. There were many absentees from the Pakotai School this morning, a direct result of a meeting of parents called by the school committee on Friday. For many year* the school committee lias been endeavouring to have Pakotai classified as a native school, but all representations have so far failed. The majority of pupils attending the school me Maoris. A unanimous decision at Friday night's meeting was that children should not be allowed to attend the No fur can be ascertained this niorninjr. parents who attended the meeting by their decision and kept their children at home to-day. It is not anticipated, however, that such action will be continued.
