RIFLE SHOOTING.

AUCKLAND CITY CLUB. DEVORV AND CLARK NECK AND NECK. The first championship at the short ranges was staged by the Auckland City Club on Saturday afternoon, a double 3<H)vds range being tired. There was a slight variation in the wind at time*, but conditions, generally, appeared good. Scores were not as high as were expected, especially during the first round. Spoons were won by A. G. l>evore on a count back from C J. M. Clark, in the A grade, and by K. Hill on a count back from L. Heald in tlie B grade. Trophy points to date: — A Grade. —Clark 4, Buchanan. Devore and I'ieterson 3 each. Kearney 2, Harris, l'atrick and Judkins 1 each. B (irade. —Gwilliam 0. Hill 3. Heald, Fitzlierberr and Smith 2 each, Crocker, Buchanan and George 1 each.
