WELSH SOCIETY.

ENJOYABLE PROGRAMME. SEASON'S FINAL MEETING. The Welsh Society met at the Overseas League rooms on Saturday night for their final meeting of the season. There was a very good attendance of members and friends. The president, Mr. T. E. Price, occupied the chair. In his address he gave an inttf-esting account of recent happenings in Wales. Among other things, he referred to the Countess of Plymouth's efforts in raising funds to relieve distress in the stricken areas of South Wales, and also mentioned that new industries have been started which will absorb thousands of the unemployed, who have suffered privations for many years. A welcome was extended to the following visitors: Mr. and Mrs. Williams, New Plymouth, Mr. R. D. Owen, of Feetimog, Wales, Mr. D. Davies, of Carnarvon, Wales, accompanied by Miss Laird, Mr. W. Evans, Llanon, Aberystwyth, Mr. T. Lynch, of Portsmouth, England. A good programme was rendered br the following artists: Mrs. Randon, Misg Dorecn Cameron, Miss Green, Miss Simicli, Mr. Blackie, Mr. A. G. Murray, and Mr. R. D. Owen, late member of J. C. Williamson's party, sang those wellknown Welsh songs. "Gwlad y Delyn" and 'Y Marchog." The pianist was Misg Simich, who played several popular Welsh aire, the audience joining by singing in the mother tongue. , Mr. D. R. Davies, vi^e-president, gave , an interesting account of his visit to . the Hamilton Welsh Society. Supper was served and community singing brought an enjoyable evening to a close.
