BRAWL ON STEAMER.

FOUR MEN INJURED. t i TROUBLE ON* TROJAN STAR. ! A brawl, which started in the firei men's quarters on the Blue Star steamer i Trojan Star 011 Saturday night and ■ developed into a running tight, resulted in four members of the crew being taken i to hospital. One was severely injured i and was admitted, but the other three I were discharged after receiving treatment. It is stated that the trouble suddenly occurred following differences that • developed on the voyage between Kngland and New Zealand. The Trojan Star arrived at Auckland on Saturday morning from Opua after loading and berthed at Queen's wharf. When the affray started in the fircmen's quarters, it is alleged, some of the men endeavoured to avoid the onslaught of others. One crawled under a bunk to escape trouble, while another, who rushed up on deck, found himself in the middle of the conflict. The police and St. John Ambulance officers were summoned and found a Kdward Chevne, unconscious oil the deck. He was suffering with an injury to the left eye, facial lacerations and concussion. Thomas Fitzpatrick, fireman, liad several teeth knocked and injuries to the face, and David McKay suffered injuries to his ribs, while another fireman, George Keenan, had a leg injured. Cheyne was admitted to hospital. His condition to-day was reported to be quite satisfactory. Detectives A. Moor and constables spent some time on board investigating the affair and arrested four inen. MEN BEFORE COURT. MAGISTRATE REFUSES BAIL.
