SURGEON'S SUCCESS
OXFORD APPOINTMENT BRILLIANT NEW ZEALANDER. CAREER OF SR. FALCONER. (By Telegrapti.—Own Correspondent.) DUNE DIN", this day. Dr.->.. Murray Falconer. F.R.C.S., left by air to take up his new appointment as Nuffield assistant in surgery at Oxford University. Dr. Falconer, a son of Dr. A. R. Falconer, of Dunedin, qualified in 193.'! from the Otago Medical School, and after spending a year as house surgeon at Dunedin Hospital, went to Oreat Britain. There he held successive appointment* as pathology assistant to Professor H. M. Turnbull, at London Hospital, house physician to Lord Holder at the British Post-Graduate Medical School, clinical assistant at the Chelsea Hospital for women, and surgical registrar at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
Largely because of the surgical research work which he carried out at Aberdeen, I>r. Falconer was appointed last j'ear as assistant in surgery at the Mavo Clinic in the United States. On completion of this appointment he returned to New Zealand for a brief vixit.
At his new appointment in Oxford. Dr. Falconer will specialise in neurological and general survey under Professor Hugh Cairns.
