RAILWAYS HANDICAP.
DEPUTATION TO MINISTER. British Official Wireless. RUGBY, November 25. A request for the removal of the legal restrictions on their charging powers in respect of freight was made by a deputation composed of the chairmen and general managers of the four main line railway companies, which waited on the Minister of Transport, Dr. Leslie Burgin. The Minister asked the deputation to amplify its proposals, which aim at the. removal of the statutory obligations on ompanies. which m bers of the deputation consider handicap them in ■competition with road transport.
