POPE'S MANDATE.
Educational Programme to Preserve Democracy. CAMPAIGN IN AMERICA WASHINGTON". November 25. The Roman Catholic hierarchy in the I nited States, under a mandate from the Pope, announces an educational programme to preserve democracy and counteract subversive teaching. ' This involves the immediate compiling of a series of praded text books in order to systematise democratic teachings to 3,000.000 Catholic students. The hierarchy has expressed the hope that such teachings would not be confined to Catholics. A Papal letter last month urged American Catholics to prepare for "what may be the turning point in the world's history."'
