BRITAIN REJECTS JAP. REPLT.
(Received 11 a.m.) TOKYO, November 24. The British Ambassador, Sir Robert Craigie, informed Mr. Arita, Foreign Minister, that the Government does not accept Japan's arguments against the reopening of the Yangtse. The spokesman said that Pearl River would shortly be reopened, depending on strategical necessity. Canton Japanese warned the Consul of operations against Chinese extending to the borders of Britishleased teiritory.
FRENCH SPEED UP.
INDO-CHINA DEFENCES,
Independent Cable Service. (Received 10.30 a.m.) PARIS, November 24. It is reliably stated that French defence measures for Indo-China, will immediately be accelerated. During the last few months Indo-China troops have been increased by 20,000, and a big 'plane factory has been opened at Saigon.
