MODERN ILLUSIONS.
Idea of Self-Sufficiency and
Isolation.
U.S. MINISTERS VIEW.
WASHINGTON, November 24
The Secretary of State, Mr. Cordell Hull, in a radio broadcast, said the development of modern communications systems such as radio, the telephone and the telegraph had made impossible a national jiolicy of isolation and selfsufficiency.
"Even if we wish, we are not allowed to forget the outside world or ignore, our neighbours," said Mr. Hull. "The development of communications brings home the fact that isolation and selfsufficiency are illusions and interdependence and the need for co-operation are fundamental."
