SCOUT PROMISE.
NEED FOR REAFFIRMATION.
(liecelved 12 noon.) LONDON, November 24. Deputy-Chief Scout Somers, of the Boy Scouts' Association, has circulated a notice reaffirming that the first scout promise, "I promise on my honour to do niv best to do my duty to God," emphasising that a scout cannot belong to any organisation denying the existence of God.
An official said the message is regarded as necessary in t lie present troubled state of the world and the growth of the anti-God movement. It is explained that no specific incident prompted the statement.
