Conditions were ideal at Te Rapa this morning for the semi-final gallops for I'aeroa. Tho course proper, 6oft out, was open for fast work,- and several useful trials were accomplished, the best o; the morning being a round by Forest Acre. Prior to the breakfast interval few g.iltops were recorded, the majority of the teams to put ill an appearance being restricted to useful pace tasks on inner tracks.

Ti*di and the Hunting Song—Clover Leaf filly blushed over two furlongs along the back in Tosh appears to have made a good recovery from the mishap that caused a brief let-up in his preparation. Raceline (MeKenzie), who looks none the worse for his Avondale exertions, was doing better than Shadow Queen (Long) over the deciding stages of four furlongs in 54 4-ss. Raceline ran good races at Avondale and should give a good account of himself in his pending engagements. Aiamis i Haiti) and Susan (Winder) were associated over a round which they negotiate,! in 2.81 i. They ran their first four furlongs in .30 4-5s and six furlongs in 1 :>:i 4-5. and were doing their woi k well at the finish. Aramis has been making good headway ot late. Prince Rangi (Hain). who looks well, was practically on terms with l'rince Ac-re (Winder) over the concluding stages of six furlongs in 1.21 1-3, the initial four in 54 2-ss. Kakarere and Hempton got to the end of four furlongs in 54 2-ss, and carried on to the live in 1.8 4-5.

Holding His Condition. The best effort of the morning over n sprint distance was that of Young Paddon (Long), who accomplished five finlongs in 1.8 4-5, the firnt four in 54 2-as. Young Paddon is holding Ms condition well, and is in splendid heart for racing ahead. The two-year-old Sir Lysander (McKenziol brushed over two furlongs along the back in 2oV6s. Ooldation (.Thomson) an acceptor for tlie Trial Handicap on Saturday, ran to the six furlong peg in 1.25 4-.">. the first live in 1.11 1-5. Sergia (McLaughlin) and Mon Aero It.'. L. Windoi'a (Thomson) and Silver Countess (Elisor) ran two along the back in 265. The feature of the mornng was the solid effort over a round by Forest Acre (C. &. Goulsbro), who finished in front of Dark Shadow (Long) and Orwere (McLaughlin) in 2.6. They ran their first four furlongs in 55 1-s*, five in 1.8 4-5, six in 1.21 and seven in 1.34. Forest Acre was under a firm hold throughout, and an impressive feature of his effort was the manner in which he was doing his work at the end. Halga (a Commandant filly) and Cape Marita ran four furlongs, from the three to the seven-furlong barrier in 53Vis. The Jumpers. Prior to the breakfast interval -Tan Ridd (Brady) was schooled over four pony hurdles along the back, and took them in dashing style. He is an acceptor for the Handicap Hurdles at Paeroa on the first day and will need only to see out the distance to have a chance.
