Mr. C. J. Pugsley, of Wellington, is paying a business visit to Auckland., Mr. N. Sayegh will leave for the south by the Limited express this evening. Mr. C. K. Grierson will leave for the south by the Limited express this evening. Lieutenant P. Williams was a passenger for the south by air this morning. Captain J. Spence, of Wellington, has accepted the position of Dominion headquarters commissioner for Sea Scouts. The position had been vacant for some time. Captain R. J. Hamilton, of Bluff, one of the nautical assessors on the Marine Court of Inquiry which investigated the mishap to the tug Te Awhina, has returned south. Major H. S, N. Robinson, secretary of the Melanesian Mission, who has been in New Zealand for the last three weeks attending to the business side of the mission, returns to Sydney by the Mariposa on Friday. Mr. William Walker, chairman of the National Industrial Council of Electric Supply of Great Britain, who has been visiting the principal ports of the .Dominion as a passenger aboard the Napier Star, will leave by that vessel from Auckland on his return to London to-morrow. Mr. O. H. Burford has been chosen from 114 applicants for the position of secretary for the New Plymouth High Schools' Board to succeed Mr. E. Lash, who is to retire at the end of November. Mr. Burford is a member of the Wanganui Education Board's accountancy staff. Mr. W. R. Carey, of Christchurch, was appointed president of the South Island Motor Union at its annual meeting recently. Appreciation of the services of the retiring president, Dr. A. S. Gibbs, of Nelson, who had held the office for three years, was recorded in the minutes. ■
