LOCAL BODY OFFICERS

WELLINGTON, this day. Diversity of opinion wu evident among the workers themselves when the local body officers' dispute wa* before the Conciliation Council to-dav, when Saturday morning work was under discussion, though Mr. G. M. Renner secretary of the union, contended that he had been advked by the majority of members that they did not want Saturday work.
Mr. Harding, town clerk at Hastings: But when they want to work on Saturdays, you ehould not prevent them from doing so. .. " Fr i<lay is a rea l nightmare now, einoo this nve-day week came in," said Mr Norman town clerk, of Wellington. "I know that a lot of our fellows would rather be able to work on Saturdays, but I done suppose they tell Mr. Renner that.
Finally it was agreed that where employees desired to work on Saturday mornings they should not be prevented from doing so although they must work a 40-hour week.
