BEAUTY PARADE.
"MISS N.Z." CONTEST.
SEMI-FINALISTS IN PERSON.
Nine beautiful girls like harbingers of summer sunshine floated among the bright throng of shoppers having afternoon refreshment in the George Court Tearooms, Karangahape Road. These girls, semi-finalists in the second series of the "Miss New Zealand" contest, have been sflected by readers of the "New Zealand Woman's Weekly" to make several public appearances for the selection of finalists. Although they are all charming and attractive examples of New Zealand's girlhood, the semi-final-ists include a wide variety of types ranging from golden-haired blondes to dark-eyed, raven-haired brunettes.
The girls are appearing in gailyflowered Hollywood play-suits supplied by George Courts, Limited, which enhance their charms considerably and make them look like mannequins on a Miami beach. Quite an expectant hush fell over the chattering crowd as the curtains parted and one beautiful girl after another tripped lightly along the dais to the strains of soft Hawaiian music. The parade was introduced by a dainty beach-clad lady, who introduced the girls and gave a running commentary of the contest. The girls will make their third and final appearance in the tearooms to-morrow afternoon.
