ANNUAL RALLY.
CUP COMPETITION. GIRLS' FRIENDLY SOCIETY. The annual rally of members of the (Jills' Friendly Society was held at St. Mary's schoolroom, Parnell, on Saturday afternoon and evening. The work of the courts displayed for competition by each branch was very jjood indeed and covered a wide variety of activities. It included thrift articles and floral work.
All Saints branch and the Pannnire branch tied for the highest place and as a result they will hold the cup for the best court for six months each.
During the afternoon a ping pong tournament was held and several plays were presented, a vocal solo also being given by one of the members. An outstanding item of the rally was the presentation of a play, "Dick Whittington and His Cat," written by Mrs. Ethel Schmitt and presented by Miss Beryl Prentice. Taking part in it were members of the Ellerslie branch of the society.
