PROSPERITY'S BASIS.
ENTERPRISE OF PIONEERS
"New Zealand's prosperity has been built up on private enterprise," was the claim made by Mr. J. Park, Nationalist candidate for Onehunga, in the Methodist Hall, Greenwood's Corner, last evening. "But owing to the jealousy of the Socialist Government," he declared, "it is being stated that the children and grandchildren of the pioneers are not entitled to the fruits of that enterprise."
Wherever private enterprise cut across the plans of Labour, he said, the Government took powers to restrict the actions of individuals, and people who had given their whole lives to building up business connections were now finding it necessary to look around for work. He approved the efforts to encourage sport and physical culture, but strongly criticised the national health scheme.
