MINISTER'S REPLY.

LABOUR CHALLENGE.

NO WAGE CUT ISSUE.

COMMENT BY MR. P. FRASER

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) LEVIN, this day

The Minister of Education, the Hon. P. Fraser, in the presence of a large gathering yesterday afternoon, laid the foundation stone of the new Horowhenua College, and in the evening addressed a large meeting of electors.

He criticised the National party's policy, and contrasted the depression conditions with those since Labour came

into power.

Referring to his challenge to the Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. A. Hamilton, not to reduce wages, pensions, salaries, and social services should another depression come, he said he was not sure that Mr. Hamilton in his broadcast last week had given a complete answer. He would like to know if that included only those services. He challenged Mr. Hamilton, should world prices for Dominion produce fall, to give an assurance that directly or indirectly his party would prevent reductions in these services. What he asked Mr. Hamilton, the Labour party would do without qualification by organising the State's resources.
