REPORTED OUTCOME OF TALKS NOT CONFIRMED
(Received 1 p.uO LONDON, this day. The Exchange reports that the Berlin wireless announced that an agreement had been reached at Godesberg on the basis of immediate cession of the Sudeten territories. If Czechoslovakia disagrees, Mr. Chamberlain is reported to have promised that Britain and France will disinterest themselves. The Australian Associated Press says that private messages from Berlin advise treating the Exchange reports of an agreement with extreme reserve. The Reich Press chief told foreign newspapermen: "Things were going splendidly at 1.15 p.m." The Exchange report has not been confirmed elsewhere. A joint official statement issued at Godesberg said: "The Government handed Mr. Chamberlain a memorandum outlining Its attitude towards the situation in Sudetenland, which he is conveying to the Czechs." Foreign observers interpret the length of the conversation between Mr. Chamberlain and Herr Hitler .favourably.
