GUARANTEES TO CZECHS
ANGLO-FRENCH AID IF INVADED (Received 12 noon.) LONDON, September 23. The Exchange correspondent in Prague says: "It is authoritatively learned that Britain and France have definitely guaranteed Czechoslovakia that they will not allow her frontiers to be violated during the negotiations or the demarcation of a new frontier." "The Times" correspondent in Prague says this statement is official, and it apparently means that Britain will be drawn in if Germany attacks. Reuter's Paris correspondent states that M. Daladier, Prime Minister, told the Radical Socialist meeting that in the event of negotiations being broken off, France and Britain must concert appropriate measures if Germany attacked the Czechs. Parliament would be recalled to assume responsibilities. A message from Paris says that after the conference of Radical Socialists M. Daladier, the Premier, authorised a statement that France is making an ultimate effort for peace, but if Germany made a coup de force in Czechoslovakia France would maintain her obligations. "The Times" correspondent says the Radical Socialists at their meeting discussed general mobilisation. The meeting agreed that the Government can mobilise and then immediately summon Parliament and secure approval.
