MEETING AT TAUPAKL I The salient points of his party's policy were outlined by Mr. Maxwell S. Walker, Xational party candidate for Auckland Suburbs, at a meeting held at the Taupaki Hall last night. The candidate dealt with the party's attitude toward the guaranteed price, defence measures and the housing problem. He was accorded an attentive hearing and a rote of thanks and confidence was passed, i WAITOMO AND LABOUR. i (From Our Own Correspondent.) i OTOROHANGA, Friday. Mr. Jack Jones, Labour candidate for the Waitomo electorate, opened his political campaign with his first policy speech at Otorohanga before an audience of 400 people. The Labour party held that poverty was not inevitable, he said, and by the issue of credit they could avoid adding to the debt of the country Their policy included the provision of credit to farmers to as full an extent as possible at lowest interest rates. This ; would be provided through a special branch of the State bank so that young men with practical farming experience and no capital would be able to get advances.
