CANNOT SUPPORT ACT.
BOARD MEMBER RESIGNS
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. A Labour member of the North Canterbury Hospital Board, Dr. R. E. HopePearson, has resigned. He explained that he could not conscientiously support the Social Security Act. There was nothing in the scheme, he said, to provide for the prevention of sickness and disease. The scheme wo« a sickness scheme, and not a health scheme.
