SCENIC DRIVE.
QUESTION OF COST.
GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE. The finance committee, at a meeting of the Auckland City Council last evening, reported that there was a sum of £833 which seven local bodies had refused to contribute towards the cost of the Waitakere Scenic Drive. The Minister o/ Public Works, the Hon. R. Semple, had now offered to find £500 if the council would find the balance.
It was decided to approach again the non-contributing local bodies with a suggestion that they should be prepared to contribute on the lower basis.
