WRESTLING.
N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIP. DETTON MEETS BLOMFIELD. The New Zealand professional heavyweight wrestling championship is in the balance in the match to be decided in Auckland on j"wesda.v evening next between HlomfieM, the holder, and Dotton. ex-champion, of the world. Earlier in llie season Blomfield was beaten by ]Jetton on a disqualificatXn, and in a match at Wellington on Monday there was no decision, as tile referee was incapacitated. Both men are at the top of their form, and have been in special training for the bout, which means a great deal to each of them. Blomfield holds the opinion that he can beat Detton, and states that he was ahead on points when the match terminated in Wellington. In spite of his falling off in form following his return from America at the start of the season, Blomfield has had a splendid season, and has lost only six matches out of 60, and drawn 10. In the latter part of the season he has shown better form than ever previously, and his strength as well as his big variety of attacking moves, his aggressiveness, and the threat of his octopus clamp, will make the contest with clever-wrestling Detton full of interest and excitement.
