AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION.

WINDMILL ROAD FINALS. CAN 'VARSITY BLUES WIX AGAIN" To-morrow at the Windmill Road courts the final series of the championship will be played and the ultimate winners of the Championship Cup in the senior A grade as well as the cup winners in the lower grades will be decided. The competitions are run in two rounds of 18 games and the team with the best average is the winner of that grade. The championship Cup is competed for by senior A grade teams only and the holders are regarded as the virtual champions of the association. In addition there is a cup awarded in each of the lower grades.

The cup is at present held by 'Varsity Blues and in 1936 St. Benedict's carried it off. but since then have not been represented in the association. This year 'Varsity Blues are strong in the running, lieiug one point ahead of Surrey Hills on tilfirst round and in the present round are running even with them. The next encounter will be the deciding match and Surrey Hills, who were runners-up last year may even yet balance the score. In the event of a tie, each team will hold the cup for six months. It is significant that the Blurs' team includes M"g Matangi and Mary Martin, two New Zealand representatives who recently travelled to Australia.

There is also open to competition anions all grades the Watter's Cup. which is awarded to tile team scoring the largest number of goals in the season. A team in the fourth grade is as likely to carry this off as one in the senior grades. Langtons were 1037 winners and this year are in the second B grade, where they ti:vl with IZM in the first round with 122 goals each. On the results of the first round, those in the running so far are:- Senior A grade: Surrey Hills 144. 'Varsity Blues 128. Second A grade: Shamrock 141. Newton Raneers 125. Senior B grade: Greers 129. Third grade: Leßoys 121. Third B grade: Osltornes 133. To-morrow's games, though, may upset-these points considerably.
