ELLERSLIE APPOINTMENTS
"Ponty" (Waihi) writes: I notice that the Auckland Racing Club are going to reduce the charge to the St. Leger enclosure by one shilling, which will, no doubt, be appreciated by the public that use it on a race day. I have aften wondered why two or three fl windows could not be supplied in this part of the course. It would save quite a lot of time and trouble as most people vary their betting as horses appeal differently to them. Ellerslie, with its single pool betting, its electric tote indicator, and other good appointments, appeals very much to me, and I think to the average racegoer.

the J. T. Weaver Handicap is in honour of a great old sportsman who for many years was the outstanding trotting personality in Southern Tasmania. The late Mr. James Brennen, one of the foundation members of the West Australian Trotting Association, has not been forgotten either.
