Notes From Ellerslie

AW IMPROVED JUMPER. As the result of regular schooling King Musk has improved a good deal in his jumping, and his exhibition over four flights of hurdles yesterday morning was his best to date. Although a plain-looking customer, King Musk has the required speed and conformation to make a successful hurdler. He is also in first-rate order to begin racing over the battens. GOING ON THE RIGHT WAY. In view of her racing at the Auckland meeting. Chelandrv is being sent along a bit faster in her work and is shaping well. Yesterday morning this filly was responsible for a good work-out over three furlongs, and as she is improving each week she will be well forward for events ahead. Chelandry is not engaged in the Welcome Stakes, but. all going well, she will make her first appearance in public in the Musket Stakes.

SHOULD PAY HIS WAY.

Electric Spear came through his racing at Avondale in a satisfactory manner and is all the better for the experience. He showed a fair amount of speed for a beginner, and after lie has had a few more races he should be capable of paying his way when the class is not too select. CAN FULFIL ENGAGEMENTS. Since racing at Avondale Sly Fox has done the bulk of his work 011 the tan track and is thriving on the tasks allotted him. This four vear-old is now out of hack class as the result of his success in the Champion Plate last week. However, the win does not debar him from fulfilling his engagements in the fiordon and Hobson Handicaps at the Auckland spring meeting, entries for which closed the day l>efore the Avondale meeting opened.
