BLOOMS AT MT. ALBERT.
DAFFODILS PREDOMINATE.
With a profusion of spring blooms tastefully arranged on tables and atand. centring about a magnificent tree fe™ in the middle of the floor, the inteiW of King George Hall, Mount Albert nresented a colourful eight yesterdav, when thT exhibits in the Mount Albert Horticul tural Society's spring show were judged Shelves had been built up round three of the ivalls, and these were mainly oeeuni<J by daffodils, which formed the main section of the show from the competitive viewpoint.
The most beautiful and interesting portion to the layman, however was th decorative section, in which all entriw were of a high standard, considering th« time of the year and last Sundav g storm Exhibits were arranged on tallies placed lengthwise and crosswise on the floor anH much of the striking general effect of th* whole show was created by these multicoloured blooms and shrubs.
Unusual exhibits were an Australian shrub, with tiny white flowers and » eucalyptus-like smell, which has never before been on display in Auckland. anH some specimens of a rare tvpe of tuhn which carries up to nine flowers on one stalk. These were of a flesh-pink colour on the edges, with clear veUow hearts. A bowl of hybrid freesias "of all colours made a beautiful and unusual sight also, while humble but none the 1«m attractive lachenalias. effectively- set off their more exotic neighbours.
