MUSICAL COMEDY.
GRAMMAR SCHOOL STUDENTS.
SUCCESSFUL CONCERT,
Before a very large attendance the bovs °t the Auckland Grammar School presented a musical comedy, a one-act play ana a comprehensive gymnastic dis pi 33- at Wis Majesty b Theatre last evening, as the commencement of a season of three nights.
„ The musical comedy was "The Girl rrom Tennessee, written and produced by Mr. r. M. Price. The colourful presentation centred around the affairs of a plan-tation-owner, Colonel Warrcnder, taken oy K. VV. Robbing, the colonel's nephew JJerek, and the colonel's ward Judith, the latter parte being taken by R. J. Wilson and. Li. R. Cameron. The villain of the piece was Eugene Legrange, taken by L. 1 T^ ae ?, ari i; and other Pa l,lß were taken v F " T. K. Anderson, J. K. Giffney D. D. Ince, M. X. Burton, M. K. Colhoun, R. W. D. Loxton. W. Morley L 1. Loraie, N. E. Pickard, J. C. Middleton and C. A. Roberts. Scenes ■or the nitst act are set in the Mississippi plantations, and from there the scene changes to the Klond.vke gold rush. All the parts were capably taken, and the presentation was of a very high order. L'ood support was given by the -orchestra. the school dramatic club presented the one-act play "Allison's Lad." under the direction of Mr. Alan McSki mminjr. the principal parts being taken bv S. D. E. Dunmnpham. E. S. Kirkpatrick. G. A. w w ' • S. F. Partridge and ! .* - bobbins. It was a clever pro<l notion.
I\ythmic Danish exorcise*? were featured «>v tno gymnasium class, and music was P'ayed by the school band, conducted by Mr. C. X. Nicholls.
